The phone number to activate your card is 1-866-676-1895. You can also call the phone number listed on the back of the card.
Make sure you have the card on hand before dialing in. Most companies require the long card number, expiration date, and three-digit CVV code from the back of the card in order to activate it.
The process is automated, so you can call in any time without worry about their business hours. They will prompt you to enter your information as necessary, and then you can hang up when finished. Altogether, it should take you no more than a couple of minutes to finish activating your card through this automated system.
Activate through Mobile Banking App
Some people prefer not to pick up the phone when they could easily activate their card from the convenience of the mobile app. Fortunately, this is another easy option for learning how to activate your BBVA USA debit card.
The first thing you need to do is ensure that you are signed into your BBVA Mobile Banking App. From there, you will follow these simple steps:
- In the search box, say or enter “Activate Card.”
- Tap on the card to activate it.

If you select “debit card,” it will request your account number and PIN so be prepared with this information. Then, follow the prompts to set up the rest of your account including establishing security questions.

Activation through Online Banking
Now that you have enrolled in online banking, you can also figure out how to activate your BBVA USA debit card through the portal. First, sign into your online banking account. From here, you will see a list of all your available accounts. Select the checking account associated with your debit card.
You should see a section with “Associated Cards” once you select the appropriate checking account. Click “Activate” on the card that you wish to activate.
